Roots for the Future is a community initiative to help preserve farm land in Lewes, Delaware. Lewes is growing fast, and with every new building, we risk losing a piece of farmland that has been the heart of our community for generations. At Hopkins Brothers Produce, we believe that preserving agriculture isn't just about keeping open fields - its about safeguarding our shared heritage supporting Agri-tourism, and leaving something meaningful for future generations.
That is why we are launching,
ROOTS FOR THE FUTURE: A COMMUNITY ORCHARD INITIATIVE. Together, we can create a thriving orchard that will stand as a living reminder our our commitment to farming, fresh produce, and a community connection.

Become a cornerstone of this project. Founder's circle members will be recognized as a key supporter who helped make the orchard possible and will receive a dedicated plaque in their name, recognition on advertisement of the orchard, and will be invited to special future events at the orchard.

Evelynn™ typically harvests slightly earlier. The fruit has excellent size and firmness. Evelynn™ has consistently made attractive and regularly carries impressive annual crop loads.

The Desiree® peach is a Rutgers University developed, early-season, yellow-fleshed, semi-freestone peach with a highly colored, firm, and sweet fruit that has good flavor and a low susceptibility to bacterial leaf spot. It was originally known as NJ350 and is characterized by its medium size, and crimson red skin over a yellow-red background.
A russet-resistant selection of the original Golden Delicious. One of the most widely planted apple cultivars worldwide. Fruit is firm, medium to large with the classic Golden Delicious flavor.
The Daybreak™ Fuji is an early-ripening, sport variety of the classic Fuji apple that was discovered in Orrtanna, Pennsylvania, in the early 2000s. It offers the desirable sweetness and crispness. Fuji apples are known for their large size, pink-red blush, and excellent firmness, making them a great choice for fresh eating, salads, and baking.
Deer orchard fencing is a widely used and safe practice in agriculture and land management to protect orchards from deer damage.
Our goal is to plant 100 Fruit Trees.
